Excellent Modern Lamp But Be Careful Joining the Posts

This lamp has the look and feel of a something built to last. The post, the base and the glass shade are hefty and imposing. Check this out if you want to make a statement. I docked one star for two reasons. First, the screw joint in one post section was defective. The threads didn't engage at all and the post simply slid in place. Fortunately the two pieces lined up well and are firm. Secondly, the glass shade is not diffuse enough. Each of two bulbs, 11 watt LED's, very close to the glass, can be seen as bright spots, a distraction from an otherwise generous, lovely shade. These are minor flaws. This lamp is not only a keeper. I think my children will want it when that time comes.

Really nice lamp!

I got this hoping it would light up a room as if there was a ceiling light. Even though I have it in the corner, it does a great job at that- nice and bright with 150 watt LD bulbs. It has 2 settings so I can also tone it down a bit if I want to. Also very good looking, sturdy, but doesn’t take up a lot if space.

Difficult to screw

First, this was packed pretty well but I hate the styrofoam where all the little pieces fall off fly everywhere. Then once out of the package, I knew the drill - screw in the pieces of the pole into the base and pull out the plug as you go. Easy, right? Not so! I just couldn’t get the pieces positioned well to screw them in. And my kids kept complaining about how the metal was screeching. I finally got most screwed in but just couldn’t get the middle or top fully in. Once I put on the glass lamp on the top, I couldn’t figure out how to add two light bulbs without them hitting one another. Plus one of the light bulb holders were chipped. Overall it was really big and heavy. In a restaurant or more industrial setting, that heaviness and size may work but not so in a small apartment. Also on the first setting when you turn it on, the lights were flickering a bit. They were stable on the second turn. But I would like the option to have a dimmable light. This is definitely a return for me even with the pain of repacking it again. So surprised given the other reviews and the general acclaim for Adesso. Ah well.

Gives very powerful bright light

I am going to rewrite my review. I brought in a professional maintenance person who showed how to twist the light sockets slightly so that both bulbs can actually fit, although they are very close to each other. Given that it is now working I am happy with the lamp because it does give very bright light capable of lighting a large room and is very sturdy. I will still point out that the socket diagram given in the product description is not the way the sockets are, this diagram is outdated. It does represent good value for the money. I am going to by another one.

Robust is an understatement

We were desperate for more light in the form of a torchiere. Would have preferred a 500 watt equivalent, but this gets you 300 watts, so it is really very bright and would light most spaces well. This thing is massive. I didn't weigh it, but I am guessing 25 lbs. The base is larger and heavier than most torchieres and the glass at the top is also larger. The stem is massive, so it is going to look best in large spaces. I did not struggle to get mine assembled. Maybe I got lucky, but no issue screwing the sections together. You do have to keep pulling on the wire as you go along. People who wrote that the light bulbs can collide with each other are correct. I purchased 150 watt incandescents, which are kind of long bulbs, not short ones. I ended up bending the connectors on the lamp outward just a tad to get the bulbs to fit. Not ideal. Adesso could re-work the orientation, or future purchasers need to find shorter bulbs. Elderly consumer wanted old fashioned incandescents with bright white light, so I installed two150 watt bulbs. If you look for shorter LED bulbs you may be happier. The instructions say NOT to use 3 way bulbs. The control knob feels like it has 3 settings; the lamp is giving me 2 levels of brightness despite my not having purchased dimmables. Elderly like the full blast of 300 watts. So far so good. I would not mind if Adesso clarified the knob, the settings. I think they should re-work the orientation of the receptacles for the bulbs so that you can easily install long bulbs.

Really like it, somewhat difficult to assemble

Looks great but assembly was a bit trickier than I expected. It was very easy to cross-thread the pole during assembly and I had to carefully re-thread it several times to get everything lined up properly, so pay close attention during assembly.

Switch is worthless!

I purchased this product in August 2022. Within six months the switch broke. It was slipping often when trying to turn the lamp on, and finally failed completely. Against my better judgement I order a second lamp (same model). The switch was already failing upon installation. This is a miserable excuse for a high end lamp.
